About Niklas: Niklas is enrolled in the bachelor's programme in Physics at the University of Vienna. On a coffee break at his Faculty, he once met Nobel Prize laureate Anton Zeilinger. Having the opportunity to meet one of the most distinguished experts in the field and to talk to him during the bachelor's programme shows what is possible at an excellent university. To maintain this excellency, universities need sufficient funding to set the course for the chances of the next generation.

About Nira: Nira is enrolled on the master’s programme in English Language and Linguistics at the University of Vienna. She will be one of around 10,000 students graduating from the University each year and contributing their expertise to society. The University of Vienna awards one in four higher education degrees in Austria – despite being allocated just 15 % of the federal university budget. About Anna Durnová: Anna Durnová is a social scientist who conducts research on the role of emotions in democratic societies at the University of Vienna. Her research is crucial because emotions are a major factor in determining how people perceive political decisions and participate in debate and whether or not they place their trust in institutions. Her research is a prime example of what universities can achieve – generating evidence-based knowledge that helps us solve the major issues of our time.
